The Supreme Court of Russian Federation completed results of courts` activity for 2017 year

The statistics of courts for 2017 shows how they work, describes the economic situation in the country and shows the effect of the recently adopted laws. The Chairman of the Supreme Court told how many housing, family and consumer disputes were considered in 2017, and highlighted some important aspects in them. He also reported statistics on arbitration, administrative and criminal cases. The data was commented on by experts who evaluated the overall picture and tried to explain the individual indicators.

“Administrative”: taxes, penalties, cadastral values

More than 4 million cases, considered in according with the code of administrative court procedure (92% of their total number), are linked with the collection of mandatory payments and sanctions from individuals (that is, mainly taxes and penalties). This is more than all arbitration cases in 2017, emphasizes the CEO of the National Law Company "Mitra" Yury Mirzoev.

Taking into account that in 2013-2017 about 98% of cases were considered in favor of the budget, Mirzoev suggested canceling the mandatory judicial procedure for collecting payments and sanctions from citizens. The tax authorities will decree for bailiffs. Those citizens who disagree with them will be able to appeal them to the court. It will reduce the number of such interest disputes by 90%, argues Mirzoev.
